Tap2Open – Smartphone Access for Gated Communities & Secured Doors

Key Fob and Keycard Access

Your smartphone opens every door. But for residents who prefer a fob or keycard, we've got you covered.

Your Phone Is the Only Key You Need

With Tap2Open, residents can open gates, building entrances, and amenity doors with just their smartphone. No key ring full of fobs. No keycard to forget at home. No digging through your bag at the door. Just pull out your mobile phone, tap, and you’re in. It’s keyless entry the way it should be: simple, secure, and always in your pocket.

FOB's and Keycards for Those Who Want Them

Not everyone wants to use their phone for everything. Some residents prefer the familiar feel of a key fob on their key ring or an access card in their wallet. That’s why Tap2Open offers fobs and keycards as an option. They work seamlessly with our access control system, so residents can choose the method that fits their lifestyle. Smartphone user? Great. Fob person? No problem.

One System, Multiple Ways to Enter

Tap2Open gives your community flexibility. Every access point, from the main gate to the pool to the fitness center, can be opened via smartphone. Residents who prefer physical credentials can use a key fob or keycard at the same entry points. Property managers don’t have to choose between a mobile access control system and a traditional fob system. FOB’s and keycards are just one part of Tap2Open’s complete access control system. With Tap2Open, you get both in one platform.

No. Tap2Open’s primary access method is smartphone entry. Residents can open gates, doors, and amenity spaces using just their mobile phone. FOB’s and keycards are optional for residents who prefer a physical credential.

Some residents prefer the simplicity of tapping a key fob without pulling out their phone. Others like having a backup option in case their phone battery dies. Tap2Open gives residents the flexibility to use whichever method works best for them at any given moment.

Yes! In most cases, Tap2Open integrates with your current card readers and fob systems using standard protocols. Residents can continue using their existing fobs and keycards while also gaining smartphone access. No need to replace hardware.

Both use radio frequency technology to communicate with a reader and unlock a door. Key fobs are small devices that attach to a key ring, while keycards are credit-card sized and fit easily in a wallet. Tap2Open supports both formats.

On any entrance connected to their Tap2Open system: building entrances, pedestrian gates, amenity spaces like pools and gyms, self storage facilities, marina docks, and garage doors. FOB readers are built into our Smart Keypads, and we also offer stand-alone reader options.

Everything is controlled through Tap2Open’s web-based dashboard. Administrators can assign fobs, grant smartphone access, set schedules, and revoke credentials from any device with an internet connection. When a resident moves out, all their access methods can be deactivated at once.

Guest entry is typically handled through smartphone invitations, which residents send via text or email. This eliminates they need to provide physical credentials to guests. No app download is required for guests. However, communities can issue temporary fobs or access cards to long-term guests or vendors if needed.
